Khatmul Qur'an, ISG And Other Events
Tuesday 3 July 2001 / 12 Rabi al-Aakhar 1422H
The season of t'abbudaat in London has been unique so far this year. The Khatmul Qur'an day, a couple of Sundays ago, when nearly 300 Mumineen, Muminaat and their children gathered in Masjid e-Husaini and sat together until 10pm as various Sahebs and khidmat guzars did tilawat out loud has undoubtedly been the highlight. The glowing satisfaction that all of us left with was heightened by the fact that the khatam of the event was rendered by the ever melodious voice of Shazada aali waqar Shazada Qaid-Johar bhaisaheb Ezzuddin (DM) and that of his son, Ibrahim bhaisaheb who then also recited the khatmul Qur'an dua.
In D'aaimul Islam it is written that those who recite Qur'an here on earth shine like stars to those in the heavens and Shazada saheb's presence and his intercession on our behalf near Aqamola (TUS) was proof positive that we would be shining brightly in the eyes of our beloved Aqa on that fine Sunday. Insha'Allah.
T'abbudaat has been performed in all manner of ways. Cricket matches between London and Leicester continue in what is becoming something of a one day series, with Leicester now leading 2-1. Darees are taking place daily at the Masjid for Mohalla Mumineen; muzakeraats and sabaqs continue, with Shazadis Maryam Bahensaheba and Sherebanu Bahensaheba (daughters of Syedna Taher Saifuddin (RA)) holding sabaq for ladies, and Zainulabedin bhaisaheb for Toloba. Haqiqat barakat is also now being received by selected Mumineen at the hands of Aqa Moula's (TUS) learned grandson, Mehlum bhaisaheb.
Quran manzil (Quran finished in 7 days according to set manzils (sections)) continues twice daily at the Masjid and a daily event takes place at 7pm, either a Muzakerat or Risala sabaq. There was the Marsiyah/Madhe competition with 5 parties including one from Leicester taking part. The Madhe (individual) part of this competition remains to take place but the competition so far has included one marsiyah from each party, a multi-media supported quiz with questions on Imam Husain (AS) and marsiyas and madehs. The whole program was beautifully executed and also became a London first.
The big event for this last Sunday was ISG 2001 (International Singles Gathering). Over 250 people were in attendance from as far afield as San Francisco and Calcutta at a country club in Epping Forest on the outskirts of London. The feedback so far has been 98% positive, the main gripe being the initial slownessss of the bbq. Reports suggest that a lot of new contacts were made, a lot of numbers exchanged. The privacy of the venue has meant several people could indeed get to know others away from the public eye and still more are now coming back to the organisers to inquire about persons they are interested in. All in all a seemingly successful day.
Ladies events continue apace on Saturdays; dramas, skits, workshops, art and craft demonstrations organised by Burhani Women's Association and Talebaat have all been very well received and esteemed guests have included Shazadis Maryam bahensaheb and Sherebanu bahensaheb and also Shazada Qaidjohar bhaisaheb.
And, all in all a varied and interesting series of events with the very best of-course still to come. Aqa Mohammed Burhanuddin Moula's (TUS) arrival after his gracious bestowal upon London and U.K. Mumineen of the sharaf of hosting his 90th Milaad celebrations is eagerly anticipated. The Masjid area has become a hive of activity in preparation for this historic milaad and the arrival of guests from all over the world. Through it all, of-course, we remain aware of our qusoor, are cognizant of the fact that short-comings remain in abundance, far more even than we can imagine. And it heightens the feeling of shukr, for the continued and remarkable ne'am and barakaat Aqamola continues to shower upon us; his cherished nazar of shafaqat and rehmat. May Allah t'aala grant him long and healthy life until Qiyamat and may we forever be in the shade of his mubarak nazar. Ameen.
